The setting is idyllic, with streams and brooks burbling around the garden and various bridges crossing back and forth – the owner has cleverly created an outdoor dining area on an island amongst all the water, which is possibly the nicest setting in which to eat a summer lunch. The house itself is a brilliant amalgamation of the old and new, with one part being a former mill house and a modern extension that works so well. It sprawls up and down over various bedrooms and living spaces, with a spacious country kitchen, very generous utility room, two living rooms – one traditional, one with a ping pong table and giant TV – and a clever dining nook in the part of the house that brings old and new together.
