The Dover, which opened in February, has been a big of this year, and it's really coming into its own now the days are getting colder. The New York Italian bar and restaurant in Mayfair may have a lot of hype around it (plenty of celebrities have been spotted there since its opening) but it's more than empty buzz. With cosy, panelled interiors and a hearty menu, we recommend stopping here for a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs and a cocktail after a day of Christmas shopping in town. For cosy roasts, pubs like The Camberwell Arms and The Devonshire are hot tickets and, whilst not your average ‘pub grub’, are both sensational spots. We're also excited to visit Tamila, the latest offering from the minds behind the elite pubs with Indian food, Tamil Prince and Tamil Crown. Back in Mayfair, The Twenty Two Downstairs Club is hosting one of American's most celebrated chefs, sushi chef Masa Takayama of New York’s three-Michellin-starred Kappo Masa for a pop up running until 2nd November. The £150 tasting menu is well worth a visit and includes highlights like a gorgeous peking duck fois gras taco and miso crème brulée with black sesame ice cream.
Noticing that Angel, Islington, Hampstead and Newington Green are superior culinary spots, we've started our best restaurants in North London roundup, which we're looking forward to expanding in months to come.
